United Methodist Women
Tiptonville First United Methodist Church provides a means for women to extend the ministry of the church. With a dedication to missions, the women meet monthly in the afternoon at 1 o’clock on the second Tuesday to learn how women can be a part of the mission of the church. The women are in contact with missionaries as well as other churchwomen worldwide. The UMW actively supports Reelfoot Rural Ministries and the local Wesley Apartment Homes as a part of their evangelistic outreach.

Monthly meetings help members keep abreast of local concerns. Sherry Darnell, principal of the local elementary school explains needs that the school has that Tiptonville members can meet.

UMW members Lyn Fields, Mary Basham, and Lillie McCain work on the food to be served at a DKG dinner. Proceeds from the dinner help support mission work.

UMW members provide services to the Reelfoot Rural Ministry through donations and help with yearly projects. The women visit other UMW church groups in their district and conference through participation in workshops and seminars. Being a member of the UMW truly enriches the lives of the women of the church
